Partial Shutdown In Ganjam Dist, People Barred From Riding Motorcycles

Berhampur: The Ganjam administration on Saturday imposed partial shutdown in the district to contain possible community transmission of the novel coronavirus.

Essential services will now be available only from 7 am to 12 pm and people have been barred from loitering around during the rest of the hours. No motorcycles will be allowed on roads, a notification issued by collector Vijay Amruta said.

The Collector said that social distancing norms are being thrown to the winds with rampant use of two-wheelers to purchase essential commodities.

“No motorcycle will be allowed for normal health-related issues. Tehsildar and IIC will examine cases of medical emergency,” he said, adding that medical stores will take orders over phone and only a selective shops will be allowed to remain open.

The collector stressed on 100 per cent tele-consultation with closure of OPDs in hospitals. “Only emergency ward will operate and all private hospitals should be ready with COVID corner,” he said.

People venturing out of their houses have to wear mask and also those suffering from flu and are on symptomatic treatment, he said.

“Whoever violate the law will be put in a quarantine facility.  Anyone found not following home quarantine will be shifted to institutional quarantine,” he added.
