Bhubaneswar: To popularise science among the children and youth, the Odisha government has decided to develop a ‘Science City’ on 30 acres path of land, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
“Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved the project which will enhance scientific skills among the students,” Science and Technology Minister Ashok Panda told the Assembly on Friday. It will be developed on the lines of the one-of-its-kind Science City at Kolkata, he said, adding that Idco has been asked to allot land for the project.
The minister also informed about the government’s plan to set up a science-cum-planetarium at Puri and a nature museum in Satkosia.
The Puri administration has identified 3.7 acres in Siddhamahavir Mouza for the project, which will provide a unique experience of experimental learning to students and public with interactive models and concepts on general science and galleries on marine resources and Lord Jagannath culture, besides astronomy shows.
The nature museum has been planned to tap the immense potential for eco-tourism, research studies by students and academicians, he added.
