New Delhi: US President Joe Biden has invited Narendra Modi to participate in the Leaders’ Summit on Climate, to be held virtually on April 22 and 23.
The Indian Prime Minister will address the summit in Session 1 on April 22, from 5.30 to 7.30 pm IST. The theme of the session is ‘Our Collective Sprint to 2030’, stated a release from the Prime Minister’s Office.
About 40 world leaders are participating in the Summit. These leaders will represent countries which are members of the Major Economies Forum (including India), and those vulnerable to climate change.
The leaders are expected to exchange views on climate change, enhancing climate actions, mobilising finance towards climate mitigation and adaptation, nature-based solutions, climate security and technological innovations for clean energy.
All sessions will be streamed live and open to the media and public.
The Summit is part of a series of global meetings focusing on climate issues, being held in the run-up to the crucial 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) to be held in Glasgow from November 1 to 12, 2021.
