Bhubaneswar: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a man to help in a land dispute case.
The accused, identified as Pravat Kumar Pradhan, is posted at Chandanpur Police Station in Puri district. The ASI was caught while demanding and taking bribe from a complainant to help him and his brother in a land dispute case registered earlier in Chandanpur Police Station. Pradhan is the Investigating Officer in the case.
The entire tainted bribe money of Rs 15,000 has been recovered from possession of accused Pradhan and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of the ASI.
A case has been registered against accused ASI and investigation is in progress.
