Police Detain 5 Non-Hindus For Entering Jagannath Temple In Odisha’s Puri

Puri: Police have detained 5 non-Hindu persons for allegedly entering Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri on Sunday.

As per reports, a group of 9 persons had come on a visit to the Pilgrim Town. While three of them waited in Parikram Marg, six others went inside the temple. Those, who went to the temple, had darshan of sibling deities and took Mahaprasad there.

Meanwhile, some local people enquired the identity and address of the three persons waiting outside. The visitors told them that they had come from Bangladesh and six others had gone inside the temple. As the six persons came out with the Mahaprasad, the locals caught hold of them and handed over all 9 persons to the Singhadwar police.

The police have detained the visitors and were questioning them. It has been revealed that one of the six persons who had gone inside the temple is a Hindu, while Bangladesh passport has been seized from another person.

It may be noted that entry of non-Hindu persons into Jagannath temple in Puri is not allowed.
