Puri: Police arrested 4 dacoits while they were planning to commit highway robbery near here early Sunday morning.
According to police sources, while a team led by ASI KC Das was on patrolling duty on Saturday night, it received information about 5 anti-socials meeting at Matha Padia near Biragobindapur Lonath temple beside Bhubaneswar-Puri national highway.
The police team rushed to the spot and conducted a raid on the place. They nabbed 4 of the five anti-socials while one managed to escape.
During a search on the spot, an iron rod, a sword and two liquor bottles were seized. The police forwarded the arrested persons to court on Sunday morning.
The arrested anti-socials were identified as Pramod Sahoo of Pipili and Chintamani Swain, Sanjay Behera and Kanhu Nayak of Satyabadi in Puri district. All of them have criminal cases pending against them at different police stations.
