Police Officer Arrested For Ditching Woman After Promise Of Marriage In Odisha

Berhampur: A police officer has been arrested in Ganjam district for betraying a woman after keeping physical relationship with her on the assurance of marrying her.

According to the complaint filed by the woman at Khallikot police station, the officer posted at Bhejiput police outpost, Tuna Pidika, had developed physical relationship with her on the promise of marriage. The victim stays at Bhubaneswar.

Later, the police officer refused to marry her and was planning to get married to another woman. When the victim went to the police outpost to meet Pidika, he misbehaved with her.

The victim woman lodged a complaint against Pidika and a case was registered at Khallikote police station on July 3. The accused again assured the woman of marriage and requested her to change her statement in court which she did.

With the case turning false, Pidika not only ditched the woman but also threatened her of dire consequences, if she resorted to such act again.

Now, the victim complained to Ganjam SP Brijesh Ray seeking justice. The SP directed Additional SP Thakur Prasad Patra to conduct an investigation.

On the basis of the probe report and evidence, police arrested Pidika on Tuesday.

It may be noted that the IIC of Biramitrapur police station in Sundargarh district was arrested for his alleged involvement in the rape and abortion of a minor girl a few days back.
