Bhubaneswar: The preliminary postmortem report has cited respiratory arrest or asphyxiation as the cause of death of senior journalist Navin Das’ son Manish Anurag, AIIMS-Bhubaneswar PRO Dr Pravas Ranjan Tripathy said on Tuesday.

His body was fished out of a pond at Patrapada under Tomando police limits, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, on Sunday, hours after his father lodged a complaint with police, alleging that he had been kidnapped.

“Further tests with regards to undigested food in his stomach and bone marrow are being conducted to ascertain the exact cause and time of his death. The viscera of the body has been sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL),” Tripathy said.

The diatom test is being conducted at AIIMS laboratory here to ascertain whether his death was due to drowning or he was thrown into the pond after his death, he said, adding that a report after corroborating all the tests will be out in two to three days.
