Sambalpur: Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Dr P K Mishra, finally arrived in Jharsuguda and then proceeded to Sambalpur on Friday evening after facing a delay due to diversion of his flight.
He was initially scheduled to land in Jharsuguda at around 2.40 pm. However, the Delhi-Jharsuguda IndiGo flight was diverted to Bhubaneswar as it could not land in the industrial town due cracks on the runway, sources said.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and Transport Secretary Usha Padhee rushed to the Bhubaneswar airport when Mishra was waiting there.
He finally arrived at Jharsuguda at 7.15 pm after taking a flight from Bhubaneswar in the evening. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by senior officials, including the RDC (Northern range), IG, Jharsuguda Collector, and SP.
Soon after arriving in Jharsuguda, Mishra left for Sambalpur, where he will stay overnight. He also visited Maa Samaleswari temple and offered prayers at the shrine.
Mishra is scheduled to attend the IIM-Sambalpur convocation ceremony on Saturday.
An IAS officer of 1972-batch, he has been serving under Prime Minister Narendra Modi since September 11, 2019.
He had visit Odisha in February 2024 to received doctorate degree on the occasion of 53rd Convocation of the Utkal University. He had then also participated in Knowledge Tree Lecture organised by KISS.
Last evening, Principal Secretary-2 to PM Narendra Modi, Shaktikanta Das, had arrived in Bhubaneswar on a three-day visit to the state. He is scheduled to visit Ghatgaon in Keonjhar to offer prayers at Maa Tarini Temple on Saturday.
