Publicity Stunt Goes Awry, YouTuber Arrested Over ‘False Claims’ Of Hoodwinking Security At Bengaluru Airport

Bengaluru: Bengaluru Police recently arrested Vikas Gowda, a 23-year-old YouTuber, for allegedly falsely claiming that he spent an entire day at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru in a video post. He was later released on bail.

According to police sources, Vikas Gowda, a resident of Yelahanka in Bengaluru, entered the airport last week with a Chennai-bound Air India flight ticket but deliberately did not board the flight. He instead kept roaming around the airport recording a video on his mobile phone. After about five hours, he told the security personnel that he had missed the flight and left the airport, NDTV reported.

On April 12, he uploaded the video on his YouTube channel, claiming that he had entered many areas of the airport premises deceiving the security personnel and spent an entire day.

The video was later deleted by the YouTuber.

When the matter came to the notice of the airport security personnel, a Central Industrial Security Force official filed a complaint based on which a case was registered against Gowda under Sections 505 (Statements conducing to public mischief) and 448 (house trespass) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Gowda was arrested and his mobile phone was seized. Police in their preliminary investigation found that it was a publicity stunt.
