New Delhi: Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said on Thursday that the Income Tax (IT) department has noted financial irregularities to the tune of more than Rs 650 crore after raiding two film production companies, two talent management companies and a leading actress.
Though it did not take names, it’s clear that the CBDT is referring to Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu, director Anurag Kashyap and his partners who had launched Phantom Films as the statement comes in the wake of income tax raids on their homes and offices in Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad for the second straight day.
The CBDT did mention that the entities searched were engaged in the business of production of motion pictures, web series, acting, direction and talent management of celebrities and other artists.
