Bhubaneswar: A day after eight places in Odisha recorded a maximum temperature of 38°C or above, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday forecast rain for three days in the state from Tuesday (March 7).
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sambalpur and Bargarh on Tuesday. A few places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Angul, Sonepur and Boudh may experience rain the following day.
On Thursday, light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Bargarh.
The MeT office further said that the day temperature will continue to remain 2-3 °C above normal for the next four to five days.
On Saturday, Talcher and Sambalpur recorded the highest maximum temperature of 38.6°C. Bhubaneswar recorded 38.5°C followed by Jharsuguda and Sonepur at 38.4°C and Baripada, Boudh and Khurda at 38°C. Balasore, Chandbali, Cuttack, Angul, Sundargarh, Hirakud, Balangir, Titlagarh, Malkangiri, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal and Jagatsinghpur recorded maximum temperature of 37 degree Celsius or above on the day.
According to the weatherman, the day temperature in Bhubaneswar will continue to hover around 38°C during the next 6 days.
