Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued nowcast warning for 11 districts of Odisha, including Bhubaneswar, till around 9 pm on Sunday.
Light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning is likely in some parts of Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Boudh, Sonepur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati in 3 hours. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Notably, the IMD had issued orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Sambalpur, Boudh, Nayagarh and Angul districts till 8.30 am on Monday under the influence of a low pressure area, which is now lying over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha and West Bengal coasts and the monsoon trough passing through it.
Heavy rainfall is also likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Sonepur, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Koraput.
Orange warning continues till August 3 morning, following which the intensity of rain in the state might decrease, the Met office said.
