Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department on Tuesday forecast one or two intense spells (2-3cm/hour) of rainfall in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack till 11.30 pm.
The twin cities will also experience a few spells of light to moderate rain, it said.
The IMD has warned about traffic congestion, poor visibility during intense spells and traffic disruptions due to waterlogging in low-lying areas.
Notably, the intensity of rain in the state has increased following the formation of a low-pressure area over westcentral Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood on Monday.
The MeT office had earlier issued yellow warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) at isolated places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, and Ganjam till 8.30 am on Wednesday. Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is also at isolated places in Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapasa, Balasore, Bhadrak and Nayagarh during this period.
While heavy rain will continue to lash the state for the next two days, the intensity will decrease thereafter, it added.
