Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for four districts in Odisha till around 6 pm on Wednesday.
Moderate thunderstorms, rain, lightning and hail with wind speed 40-50 kmph may occur at a few places in Angul, Deogarh, Cuttack, Nayagarh during the next 3 hours.
The midday bulletin hs also warned of thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (30-40 kmph) in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Khurda districts.
Hot and humid conditions may also prevail at isolated places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.
Similar thunderstorms and sultry weather warnings continue for the state till April 21. Heatwave may also return from April 17. Warning has been issued for Balangir, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Sonepur, Angul, Bargarh, Deogarh, Boudh & Kandhamal till April 19.
The MeT office has also forecast a gradual rise in the day temperature) by 2-4°C during the next 2 days. There will be no large change during the subsequent 2 days following which mercury may rise further by 2-3°C across the state, it added.
