Rama Devi Women’s Junior College To Be Shifted In Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: Rama Devi Higher Secondary School, erstwhile Rama Devi Junior College, in Bhubaneswar will be shifted to a school building, located adjacent to its campus. The step is being taken to facilitate separation of its infrastructure from Rama Devi Women’s University.

As per the decision, the Rama Devi Women’s Higher Secondary School will be shifted to Unit-9 Government Girls’ High School, which will be merged with Unit-9 Govt Boys’ High School in Bhubaneswar.

Sources said that the Vice Chancellor of Rama Devi Women’s University is pressurising for separation of infrastructure of Rama Devi Women’s Higher Secondary School from the university due to certain reasons.

As the classes of Rama Devi Women’s Higher Secondary School are conducted only for three hours a day from 7 am to 10 am due to inadequate classrooms or galleries, it badly affects the quality of education of about 2400 students studying in this premier institution, an official notification stated.

The Director of Higher Secondary School has written to School & Mass Education Special Secretary on separation of infrastructure of Rama Devi Women’s Higher Secondary School from Rama Devi Women’s University.

Based on the recommendation of District Separation Committee under Chairmanship of Khurda Collector, the government approved the relocation of RD Women’s Junior College to Unit-9 Govt Girls’ High School for smooth imparting of teaching and learning in the higher secondary school.

Once the junior college is shifted to the high school, Class 6 to 10 of the school will be merged with Unit-9 Government Boys’ High School, the sources added.
