Bhubaneswar: President of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Niranjan Patnaik on Sunday said the fate of Odisha will improve with the rise of Congress.

“We will awaken the Congress. We will ensure that the party will rectify the mistakes it had committed earlier which will help it to rise further and faster. We will remain united and formulate strategy for the forthcoming elections,” he told mediapersons here after his return from Puri where he had darshan of the Lords at Jagannath Temple.

He said efforts will be made to ensure a smile on the face of every Odia who have been neglected by the present government in the state and the BJP government at the Centre.

After arriving at the Congress Bhawan, he had marathon meetings with the party legislators, Youth Congress and Students Congress leaders, Mahila Congress activists, Congress Seva Dal activists and district party presidents.

“The enthusiasm I have witnessed among party workers, I am sure that though the task is enormous, it is not impossible. Those who have the feeling that we are fighting a losing battle, will ultimately realise that we are heading towards a win,” he added.

“With the restructuring of the Odisha Congress, the countdown to BJD’s downfall in the state has begun,” AICC leader and newly appointed Odisha in-charge Jitendra Singh said.

He also informed that the OPCC will finalise party tickets for the forthcoming elections in the next two months with special emphasis on youth and women.

“Besides, the party, which had remained aloof from the people for quite a long time, would take up a series of programmes to win their confidence. Efforts would be made to make the people aware of the failure of the state and the central government,” Singh added.

Barring OPCC Core Committee chairperson Jayadev Jena and Manifesto Committee chairperson Srikant Jena, all senior leaders of the party were present.
