Bhubaneswar: The registration for OdishaSkills 2026-27, the state’s premier competition aimed at discovering and promoting young talent across diverse vocational skill areas, is open till September 22.
The event is organised by the Odisha government’s Skill Development and Technical Education Department in collaboration with the Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) and World Skill Centre (WSC), Bhubaneswar. The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is supporting the initiative.
Students currently pursuing or having graduated from ITIs, polytechnics, diploma and skill training institutes as well as engineering and degree colleges are eligible for participation. The competition is open to candidates aged 16 to 23 years.
The 2026-27 edition of the competition will feature 63 skills across six sectors, covering traditional, modern and industry-demand disciplines. As many as 13 new skills have been introduced this year, including Aircraft Maintenance, Heavy Vehicle Technology, Software Testing, Digital Interactive Media and Jewellery Design. Other areas include Bakery, Floristry and Smart Security Technology.
OdishaSkills opens the door to a larger journey for the competitors — starting with the state-level and progressing to the national-level competition IndiaSkills. Top performers at IndiaSkills may get the opportunity to join Team India at the WorldSkills Competition scheduled to be held in Aichi, Japan in 2028.
