Bhubaneswar: Road safety is unlikely to be included in the school curriculum for Class X students in Odisha from the academic session 2020-21.
Informing this to the media here, Commerce and Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera said that the commencement of academic session in the state has been delayed following the lockdown amid COVID-19 outbreak
“The state government is most likely to trim the syllabuses following loss of studies for more than three months and it may not be possible to include Road Safety subject for the Class X students from the current academic session. We hope that this subject will be introduced from the next academic session,” the minister added.
To help students know and follow traffic rules, the Transport department in January had suggested School and Mass Education department for including a subject or a chapter on road safety in the syllabus for Class X students from 2020-21.
