Cuttack: In a major robbery, unidentified miscreants looted valuables, including gold jewellery, worth over Rs 80 lakh meant for a marriage ceremony in Salepur area of Odisha’s Cuttack district.
As per sources, the daring heist took at a house in Jahangirabad village under Salepur block of the district on Monday night.
Four armed robbers broke into the house of Bijay Mohanty and threatened the family members. Mohanty had kept the money and ornaments for his daughter’s marriage.
As per the complaint lodged with the police, four miscreants barged into the house and looted the valuables at gunpoint. The valuables included Rs 30 lakh cash and jewelllery worth Rs 50 lakh. The robbers fled the scene with the valuables.
Based on the complaint lodged by the family, a case has been registered and police have started search efforts to nab the accused.
