Faridabad: Businessman Robert Vadra on Monday withdrew his plea from the Delhi High Court challenging a trial court order summoning him in a money laundering case linked to a land deal in Haryana’s Shikohpur village.
The matter came up before Justice Manoj Jain, where Vadra’s counsel informed the court that the petitioner did not wish to pursue the petition any further and sought permission to withdraw it unconditionally. The court allowed the withdrawal and disposed of the plea while keeping all rights and contentions of the parties open.
The plea had challenged an order from April of the trial court summoning Vadra in the money laundering case being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The case pertains to alleged irregularities in a land transaction in Shikohpur, Gurugram.
According to the ED, the case is linked to land deals involving Vadra’s company and alleged proceeds of crime under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Last week, the ED opposed Vadra’s petition in the high court, arguing that the plea was based on “false legal submissions”.
During the hearing on Monday, Vadra’s counsel told the court that “appropriate submissions” would be made before the trial court at the appropriate stage, reported HT.
