Moscow: Despite having a ‘special friendship’ with New Delhi, a Russian missile struck the warehouse of an Indian pharmaceutical company in Kyiv, the Ukraine Embassy in India alleged on Saturday. The Embassy also claimed that Moscow “deliberately” targetted Indian businesses.
The warehouse belongs to Kusum, a major pharmaceutical company in India. “Today, a Russian missile struck the warehouse of Indian pharmaceutical company Kusum in Ukraine. While claiming ‘special friendship’ with India, Moscow deliberately targets Indian businesses – destroying medicines meant for children and the elderly,” the Ukraine Embassy in India tweeted.
However, the Indian and Russian governments were yet to comment on the matter.

Martin Harris, the UK’s ambassador to Ukraine, has also made similar claims. However, his post on social media did not specify whether the warehouse belongs to Kusum. But he claimed that the attack was carried out by Russian drones and not a missile.
“This morning, Russian drones completely destroyed a major pharmaceuticals warehouse in Kyiv, incinerating stocks of medicines needed by the elderly and children. Russia’s campaign of terror against Ukrainian civilians continues,” Harris tweeted.
The envoy also posted a photo of smoke emanating from a structure that appeared to be a warehouse. The photo also shows a fire engine at the spot.
Russia’s defence ministry claimed that Ukraine had carried out five attacks on Russian energy infrastructure. Such strikes is a violation of a US-brokered moratorium. Ukraine and Russia have been fighting each other since Moscow invaded the neighbouring country in February 2022.
Last month, Ukraine and Russia agreed to pause strikes on each other’s energy facilities. However, both sides have repeatedly accused each other of breaking the moratorium.
India has stressed that dialogue between Russia and Ukraine was the only way to establish peace in the region. New Delhi has not taken either of their sides.
