Ayodhya: The Ayodhya Municipal Corporation (AMC) has adopted a motion to ban sale of liquor and meat on the entire stretch of Ram Path.
The 14-kilometre long Ram Path is the route which connects Ayodhya and Faizabad cities.
Also prohibited on Ram Path are advertisements of paan, guthka, bidi, cigarette and undergarments of both men and women.
Sale of meat and liquor was already banned in Ayodhya town. But as the road exits the sacred temple town and leads to Faizabad, meat and liquor used to be sold openly. Henceforth, the ban will be implemented on the 10 km stretch of Ram Path from Ayodhya to Faizabad.
Explaining the move, Ayodhya mayor Girish Pati Tripathi said that Ayodhya being a pious and religious city, and with the main route of Ram Path bearing the name of Lord Ram, the executive committee of AMC passed a motion to enforce the ban to maintain the city’s religious soul.
