Mumbai: Bollywood’s ‘Dabangg’ actor Salman Khan might be a proud owner of SK-27 gym franchise now, but not many are aware that the superstar started his bodybuilding journey at a lesser-known ‘Bhaiya Gym’ for just Rs 60.
According to a report in IBTimes, Salman had revealed in an earlier interview that after being snubbed by father Salim Khan for his unappealing physique, he joined ‘Bhaiya Gym’, which used to charge just Rs 60 per year.
“You can’t become Mohalle ka dada or lawyer or an inspector,” Salim had told Salman.
As his father didn’t want to pay for his gym membership, Salman along with his friends Ronit Roy, Shehzad Khan, Rafiq Kazi, and Iqbal joined a less expensive ‘Bhaiya gym’.
All his friends backed out after some time, but Salman’s strong determination helped him achieve his goal.
Bhaiya Gym or Bandra Physical Cultural Association Gym is located near Dharmendra and Mala Sinha’s residence.
It was established in May 1925 on St Martin Road and still has Salman’s pictures on its walls.
