New Delhi: In a temporary relief to automobile dealers, the Supreme Court has allowed the registration of BS4 vehicles that were sold in March this year.
All registrations including temporary ones will be allowed on the e-VAHAN portal, except for Delhi-NCR, where registration of BS4 vehicles is not allowed.
Around 7 lakh unsold BS4 vehicles were left in stock. This included 15,000 cars and 12,000 commercial vehicles.
It is reported that around 39,000 vehicles’ details were not uploaded on the e-VAHAN portal.
On March 27, the Supreme Court had allowed selling 10 per cent of unsold BS4 stock for 10 days after the lockdown was lifted.
However, on June 15, the apex court put a ban on the sale and registration of BS4 vehicles after it found that the dealers were violating its earlier order.
