Berhampur: A teacher was handed over to police for reportedly eloping with a student of his school in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Monday.
As per reports, the teacher of B Brahmapur High School in Sheragada of the district had developed a relationship with the Class X student for some time. On promising her to get married secretly, he convinced her to elope with him.
While they were trying to go away from Shergada on the day, some locals spotted them. Suspecting the intention of the teacher, they questioned him. As he reportedly admitted that he was eloping with the minor girl, they detained him and informed the police.
A team from Sheragada police station went to the spot. After being informed about the admission of the teacher about eloping with the girl, they took him to police station for questioning and sent the girl to her family.
