Bhubaneswar: The second coronavirus positive case has been detected in Odisha with the state Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department confirming it on Thursday evening.
“Today 14 samples were tested at RMRC Bhubaneswar out of which one is positive for #COVID2019,” the H&FW department said in a tweet. “This is the second positive case in Odisha. The second confirmed case has also a travel history to a COVID 19 affected country. State Surveillance Unit has initiated contact tracing,” it added.
On March 16, the first coronavirus patient was confirmed in the eastern state, where the provincial government has initiated a host of measures to prevent possible spread of the disease. The first patient had returned from Italy on March 6 and subsequently taken a train from New Delhi to the Odisha capital. He is a resident of Badagada in the city and has been quarantined at Capital Hospital here. His condition was said to be stable.
Details of the second patient are yet to be ascertained.
