Sensor-Based Parking Of Vehicles On Janpath In Bhubaneswar This Month; Know The Charges

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to streamline and regulate parking of vehicles, BSCL and BMC will launch sensor-based parking facility along the Shishu Bhawan-Master Canteen stretch of Janpath in the city on pilot basis this month.

According to sources in Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL), the facility of sensor-based parking will be in place along the entire stretch of the Janpath from Sishu Bhawan square and Vani Vihar in due course.

The facility will be available for over 1,000 cars and 550 two-wheelers on the entire Janpath for which 1,056 sensors have been installed in the parking spots, TNIE quoted BSCL officials as saying.

The BSCL and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) have jointly developed a centralised application ‘Mo Parking’ for monitoring and management the facility on the 5.5-km stretch.

The android-based app will record the parking timing of the cars to help officials make real-time monitoring of the parking lot occupancy. It will also enable the people to view the real-time availability of parking lots and pre-book the same. They will have to make online payments for the purpose.

Swikruti SHG and Parichay have been assigned the task of collecting the parking fees of Rs 20 for the first three hours and Rs 20 for each additional hour.

Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Durga Shanker Mishra reviewed the facility at Janpath in presence of Housing and Urban Development G Mathivathanan and BSCL MD Sanjay Kumar Singh on Friday.

It may be noted that over 70,000 passenger vehicles and around 1,300 freight vehicles travel through Master Canteen every day. Similarly, 1.07 lakh passenger vehicles and around 1,800 freight vehicles cross Rajmahal square every day.
