Kochi: Malayalam filmmaker Jasik Ali has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl after promising her roles in movies.
A native of Kuruvangad village in Kozhikode district, the 36-year-old director had been absconding for the past few days.
A Kerala police team, led by Circle Inspector of Koyilandy police station MV Biju, launched a massive manhunt after a complaint was registered and nabbed him from a house in Nadakkavu area of Kozhikode city.
Jasik, director of Malayalam movie ‘Binary’ that released earlier this year, is currently in judicial custody after being slapped with POCSO charges.
According to the complaint, Jasik lured the girl with film offers and took her to various places where he sexually assaulted her.
This is not the first time Jasik has been arrested for a sexual offence.
According to local media reports, he had lured another minor girl in a similar way and abducted her.
Police had arrested Jasik and his accomplice Shamnad, also from Kozhikode, after tracing them to Madiwala in Bangaluru, from where they rescued the teenager.
Jasik had managed to get bail, but has repeated the crime.
