Sidhu Moosewala’s Last Song Removed From YouTube; Know Why

New Delhi: Sidhu Moosewala’s song SYL was widely viewed since being released on the evening of June 23.

In less than three days, it had gained 2.7 crore views and received 33 lakh ‘likes’ on YouTube.

But the deceased Punjabi singer’s song has now been removed from YouTube in India. It can, however, be viewed on the video sharing and social media in platform in other countries.

YouTube took the step following a complaint by the Union government.

The song, the government has said, raises several controversial issues, like the under-construction Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal which is a bone of contention between Punjab and Haryana for the last four decades.

“The content is not available on this country domain due to legal complaint from the government,” reads the song link on YouTube in India.

It’s the first song of Moosewala – whose real name is Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu — to be released after the singer’s murder on May 29. The 29-year-old was shot dead by unidentified assailants when he was travelling in his car in Punjab’s Mansa district.
