Odisha’s Simlipal To Remain Closed For 2 Days, Jungle Safari For Prez Droupadi Murmu On May 5

Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu is likely to go on a ‘safari’ at Similipal National Park in Mayurbhanj district during her three-day visit to Odisha from May 4.

According to sources, arrangements have already been made for the safari and Field Director cum RCCF on Tuesday announced closure of Similipal Tiger Reserve for two days – May 4 and May 5. “There will be no entry or exit from the Tiger Reserve for visitors /tourists vehicles during the period.”

Murmu’s visit to the national park, a tiger reserve spread over an area of 2,750 km, on May 5 will be the first by a President of the country. She is likely to spend the entire day inside the sanctuary.

This will also be the President’s third visit to the state since being sworn in to the high office in July 2022.

After arriving at Kalaikunda Airport in West Bengal in an IAF jet from Delhi, she will board an IAF helicopter to Odisha and land at Badampahar helipad in Mayurbhanj district around 10.15 am on May 4.  She visit his in-law’s village Pahadpur and attend other events before making a night halt at the inspection bungalow in Rairangpur.

On May 5, she will visit Pandit Raghunath Murmu’s village, Dandbosh and Similipal National Park. She will then spend the night at a guest house in Baripada.

On May 6, she will attend the convocation ceremony of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University, Baripada, around 10 am and deliver the convocation address. She will leave the campus at 12.15 pm and fly back to Delhi, sources added.
