Vishakhapatnam/Berhampur: Six members of a family, including a woman and a girl child, from Odisha, were killed in a road accident at Katapalli in Andhra Pradesh’s East Godavari district. Another person was seriously injured in the mishap, which occurred between 7 am and 8 am.
According to reports, the family from Bhubaneswar had gone to Simachalam temple in Vishakhapatnam on Friday. They started their return journey home around 4.40 am on Saturday. While they were around 40 km from Berhampur, the driver lost control of the vehicle which fell into a roadside canal after hitting a culvert. Six persons died on the spot.
Later, police reached the spot and admitted the seriously injured person to a government hospital at Palasa.
Of the six deceased, five have been identified as Trilochan Jena, Banita Jena, Adarsh Jena, Pratap Jena and Ritu Jena.
