Bhubaneswar: The condition of acclaimed Odia music composer Abhijit Majumdar, who has been undergoing treatment at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar for two-and-a-half months, has improved slightly, the hospital informed on Friday.
“There is slight improvement in Majumdar’s health condition including his neurological status. His vitals are stable and he is out of ventilator support. At present, the music composer is being treated at the Medicine Ward,” AIIMS-Bhubaneswar said in a medical bulletin.
The 54-year-old Majumdar was admitted to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar in a comatose state on September 4. He is being treated for multiple comorbid conditions, including hypertension and chronic liver disease.
Majumdar’s condition has been fluctuating since he was first hospitalised in Cuttack on August 31, and thereafter shifted to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar five days later.
At AIIMS, he was initially treated at the Medical ICU and put on ventilator support. He was shifted to the Medicine Ward on September 25 after some improvement in his health condition. However, he was taken back to Medical ICU on October 11 following deterioration in his condition.
