Mumbai: On Kunal Kemmu’s reality show ‘Alliance’, actor-filmmaker Sohail Khan opened up about a deeply personal experience from his childhood.
While discussing his strong opposition to ragging and bullying, the actor-filmmaker revealed that he was sexually harassed when he was young.
Speaking to Arslan Goni, Ruhee Dosani and Aly Goni, Sohail said he has always advised his children not to feel shy or embarrassed about speaking up if they are bullied or made uncomfortable by someone.
He then revealed that he, too, had experienced sexual harassment as a child but did not tell anyone about it until he was an adult.
“I was sexually harassed by somebody when I was young and I kept that within me for years. When I grew up and became an adult, I confided in my father. I told him, ‘Daddy, this happened to me.’ He said, ‘Beta, tune itne saalon tak apne andar rakha isse (Son, you kept this inside you for so many years).’ I said, ‘I am so sorry, but I was so embarrassed to say it.’ I was not at fault, but I felt ashamed. So I keep telling my children, no matter what happens, tell me everything,” Sohail said.
In the latest episode, Sohail also became emotional while talking about his family, admitting that he misses them and breaking down in tears.
He also told host Kunal that despite having judged and hosted reality shows in the past, he never fully understood the pressure contestants face until he became a participant himself on ‘Alliance’.
Sohail added that the experience had taught him something he had never learnt in his 55 years.
Recently, ‘Alliance’ also brought Sohail together with his ex-wife, Seema Sajdeh, who joined the competition as a wildcard contestant.
Their reunion quickly went viral, with viewers praising the cordial relationship the former couple continues to share.
Since entering the show, Seema has also been seen guiding Sohail through the game and encouraging him to participate more actively.
‘Alliance’ is a reality show on Prime Video where strategy and strength are both important.
Hosted by Kunal, the show features popular personalities competing in physical tasks, social games and unexpected challenges.
Every week, two contestants are eliminated, while new wildcard contestants enter the competition.
