Sonepur Shivers At 7.4 Degree C As Cold Wave Grips Odisha

Bhubaneswar: There will be no let-up in the winter chill with India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting continuation of cold wave conditions for the next 48 hours.

The IMD in a morning bulletin said the intense cold wave condition will prevail at one or two places in Angul, Balasore, Sonepur, Boudh, Jharsuguda, Bhadrak and Keonjhar districts on Wednesday (February 12) and Angul, Balasore, Boudh and Sonepur on Thursday (February 13). The night temperature in these districts will fall by 2-3 degree Celsius.

The bulletin also said that the night temperature in the state will witness a gradual rise from February 15.

Meanwhile, the night temperature recorded in the last 24 hours till 8.30 am on Wednesday was the lowest in Sonepur at 7.4 degree Celsius while the mercury fell below 10 degree Celsius in Angul (8), Boudh (9), Keonjhar (9.9), Phulbani (9) and Titlagarh (9.1).

Besides, places, where the temperature remained within 15 degree Celsius, are Balasore (11.2), Chandbali (13), Cuttack (11.7), Paradip (14.4), Bhubaneswar (12.6), Baripada (11.8), Jharsuguda (10.4), Sambalpur (10.4), Sundargarh (12), Hirakud (11.9), Talcher (11.7), Bhawanipatna (12), Koraput (12.6), Phulbani (11.3), Daringbadi (10) and Nayagarh (12).
