Spurious Antibiotics Seized During Raid In Odisha’s Cuttack City
Cuttack: Another fake medicine racket has been busted in Odisha’s Cuttack city with the seizure of huge quantity of fake O2 tablets from a drug distribution point at Choudhury Bazar here.
A combination of two antibiotics, it is used for treating bacterial and parasitic infections. The earlier rackets pertained to spurious hypertension medicines.
During the raid on Sri Distributors on Monday, the Special Task Force (STF) of drug enforcement squad found the stock of tablets allegedly manufactured by a fake pharma company, Medley Pharmaceuticals. The drug distributor, identified as Bijay Agrawal, was detained and a case registered against him after it was found that the firm had not manufactured those O2 tablets.
Further investigation is on to trace the fake drug manufacturer by finding links in Lucknow, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh.
