STF Arrests Inter-State Drug Peddler In Odisha’s Khurda Dist

Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force of Odisha Police arrested an inter-state drug peddler and seized over 1 kg of brown sugar from him on Wednesday.

On the basis of intelligence input, a team of STF conducted raid on a place in Tangi of Khurda district and apprehended the drug peddler identified as Safikul Sk alias Khokan
of Mirzapur, in Mursidabad district of West Bengal.

During search, brown sugar weighing 1.04 kg and other incriminating materials were seized from Safikul’s possession. As he could not produce any valid document in support of possession of the contraband, he was arrested and will be forwarded to the court. The STF has registered a case under NDPS Act, 1985 in this connection.

During preliminary investigation, it has been established that an interstate racket is in operation and the drug peddlers have been identified. The STF is taking steps to nab others involved in the racket. Further investigation is on.

Since 2020, the STF in the special drive against narcotic drugs has seized more than 41 kg of brown sugar/heroin and more than 86 quintal of ganja and arrested more than 100 drug dealers and peddlers, according to a release.
