Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm activity is likely to continue at some places in Odisha for 3 days amid the prevailing hot and humid conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Tuesday.
On May 13, thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Gajapati and Ganjam. Thunderstorm along with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir and Kalahandi.
On May 14, thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam. Thunderstorm along with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Bhadrak, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balangir, Kalahandi and Cuttack.
On May 15, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati districts.
While a yellow warning for hot and humid weather has been issued till May 16, the day temperature is also expected to rise by 2-3 degree Celsius during the next 3 days.
May 10: Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.
May 11-12-13: Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.
While there is no further warning, light to moderate rain may continue at some places in the state thereafter, it added.
