Supreme Court Issues Notices To Odisha, Andhra On Kotia Row In Koraput
Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court has issued notices to Odisha and Andhra Pradesh over the border dispute in Kotia area of Koraput district.
Issuing the notices on a petition filed by the Odisha government over the issue, the apex court has directed both the state governments to submit their replies within 28 days.
The Supreme Court in its previous hearing had suggested both states to mutually resolve the issue at a political level, according to sources.
The Odisha government subsequently submitted an additional suit in the court. It was mentioned that the court in its rulings in 1968 and 2006 had ordered steps to maintain status quo in the disputed area.
However, the Odisha government alleged that Andhra Pradesh is violating the court order following which a notice has been issued to the neighbouring state.
It may be noted here that the Odisha government recently stated that it has no information about any intrusion by neighbouring Andhra Pradesh in the disputed Kotia area of Koraput district, sources said.
As per reports, Odisha Revenue Minister Pramilla Mallik had stated that there was no information with the district administration about distribution of pension and ration cards in Kotia by the Andhra Pradesh government in 2021.
