Sushant Case: CBI Names Rhea Chakraborty, Her Family Members As Accused In FIR
New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which was on Wednesday asked to probe the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case, on Thursday named Rhea Chakraborty and her family members as accused in the FIR filed by them.
According to a report in OTV, on the basis of the FIR filed by Bihar Police, the CBI registered a case against six persons — Rhea, her father Indrajit Chakraborty, mother Sandhya Chakraborty, brother Showik Chkaraborty, Sushant’s house manager Samuel Miranda and Shruti Modi.
The accused have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including abetment of suicide, criminal conspiracy, wrongful restraint/confinement, theft, criminal breach of trust, cheating and other offences.
The CBI has handed over the case to its Special Investigation Team (SIT) branch, which had earlier investigated high-profile cases like the Rs 3,600 crore AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal, and liquor baron Vijay Mallya bank fraud case.
Sushant’s father KK Singh had filed an FIR against Rhea at Patna. The actress then moved the Supreme Court seeking transfer of the case from Patna to Mumbai. Following this, Sushant’s father and the Bihar government filed a caveat in the top court requesting to be heard first.
On August 5, the SC refused to provide interim protection to Rhea in the case and the Centre approved a CBI investigation.
