Bhubaneswar: Panic swept through a crowded area of Odisha’s capital on Sunday following reports of a violent sword attack near the Big Bazaar locality in Kharavela Nagar police limits, resulting in serious injuries to two young men.
The injured have been identified as Ramesh Sethy and Amar Pradhan.
Preliminary reports indicate that the incident unfolded during a private feast hosted by over 20 employees of a private mart. What started as a casual gathering quickly escalated when a dispute erupted among attendees, leading to a dangerous confrontation.
According to eyewitness, one individual, identified as Aditya Pradhan, allegedly brandished a sword and launched an assault, inflicting grave wounds on the victims. The abrupt outbreak of violence in a bustling commercial zone caused widespread alarm, with bystanders and shoppers scattering in fear. The injured individuals, who suffered deep cuts, were rushed to Capital Hospital for emergency care.
Meanwhile, police have begun an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the sword attack.
