Bhubaneswar: Tata has unveiled the Safari with the first vehicle rolling out of the factory on Thursday.
Based on Land Rover’s OMEGARC platform, the massive SUV has three rows of seats with Tata claiming that the third row will be comfortable, unlike the seating arrangement of its competition.
Wrapped with LED taillights, there are projector lamps at the front, dual tone alloy wheels, roof rails and flared wheel arches.
It is powered by a Fiat-sourced BS6-compliant 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that does duty on the Harrier. It produces 168hp of power and 350Nm of peak torque. It will come with the option of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
In the interiors, the new Safari will have Oyster White interiors and an ash wood finish on the dashboard. There will be a panoramic sunroof, leatherette seats, and automatic climate control, multiple airbags, along with touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and connected tech.
