Tata Steel’s Joda East Iron Mine Bags FICCI Quality Systems Excellence Award
Joda: The Joda East Iron Mine (JEIM) of Tata Steel received the Platinum Prize in the Large category in Mining Sector at the 6th FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) Quality Systems Excellence Awards.
Debashis Jena, Chief Joda, D Vijayendra, Head Operations, JEIM and Asim Chatterjee, Principal Geologist, Ore Mines & Quarries (OMQ) Division received the award on behalf of Tata Steel from Surina Rajan, IAS, Director General of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on April 24at an award ceremony organized by FICCI at Federation House in New Delhi.
The improvement journey in Tata Steel is guided by the Total Quality Management (TQM) philosophy and this has ensured effective and efficient ways of doing business.
Expressing happiness on receiving the award, Manish Mishra, General Manager (OMQ), Tata Steel, said “We are honoured to receive this award for our efforts in ensuring quality systems in OMQ Division. We believe in improvement culture through various focused group approach supported by TQM tools.”
The 6th FICCI Quality Systems Excellence Awards was organized to recognise organisations for their commitment towards excellence in development and implementation of quality systems in the organisation.
The selection of the award was based on three stage rigorous process i.e. application evaluation, on-site audit and final presentation to the Jury for the awards.
