Teacher Continues To Conduct Online Classes Even After Testing Positive For COVID-19

New Delhi: When the whole world is reeling under the corona fear, a teacher in Ladakh, infected with the deadly virus is a living example of strength and hope for the vulnerable ones.

As per reports, the teacher, Kifayat Hussain, despite testing positive for COVID-19, isn’t panicking at all. He continues to conduct online classes for his students from the isolation centre.

He is using internet communication tools like Zoom for conducting online classes and making YouTube videos for his Class IX and X students whom he cannot meet now.

“Teaching is not just my job, but my passion. I was concerned that the students will lag behind in their studies and it will be a burden for them if I cover the syllabus in a hurry in future. I had enough strength to teach so I thought I should give it a try,” said Hussain.

After the teacher’s village in Ladakh was declared a containment zone, he decided to go for a COVID-19 test even though he had no symptoms of the infection.

“Although I had no symptoms, I feared I could be carrying the virus. So I decided to get myself tested and went for it at our local hospital on April 30. Once I tested positive, my teachers, particularly my principal, phoned me and advised me to go for strict quarantine and get cured,” he said.

After testing positive, Hussain was lodged in an isolation centre.

However, as teaching was his passion, Hussain requested the Ladakh administration to allow him to conduct online classes from the isolation centre.

“My school provided me digital boards and pens and I started conducting daily classes from 2pm to 3pm on Zoom. I recorded lessons on YouTube and sent them to the students,” Hussain said.

Asked if he is scared after testing positive for COVID-19, the teacher said, “I am not scared and with the care that I am getting, I hope to get well soon.”
