Cuttack: Tension erupted at Ravenshaw University on Friday following a violent confrontation between two groups of students of East Hostel and New Hostel.
According to sources, a heated verbal exchange during an inter-hostel sports meet on the campus earlier in the day escalated in a clash between the students in the evening, leaving several injured. The injured have been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment.
Police forces have been deployed on the campus to prevent flare-ups and launched a probe into the incident. The university administration is also expected to hold meetings with hostel wardens and student representatives to restore peace and prevent recurrence.
Sources added that the situation has been under control at the varsity since last night.
