Chennai: Ahead of their crucial IPL clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) icon and stand-in skipper MS Dhoni took a cheeky jibe at Dwayne Bravo, calling him a traitor.
Dhoni was practising in the nets to prepare for the Friday evening clash at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, when Bravo walked in with the KKR team.
As Dhoni noticed Bravo, he quipped, “The traitor is here.”
After hugging another CSK regular Ravindra Jadeja, Bravo imitated a Dhoni posture and shook hands with him.

It was a reference to the former West Indian allrounder’s decision to leave the Chennai-based franchise after an association of more than a decade.
Bravo played 11 seasons for CSK, helping them win the IPL four times — in 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2022 — under Dhoni’s leadership. Bravo then served as bowling coach of CSK during the 2023 season, when Dhoni went on to lift the trophy for a fifth time.
But when he got an offer from KKR to be their mentor for the 2025 season, after Gautam Gambhir left the franchise to be the Team India coach, Bravo bid goodbye to Chennai.
Hence, the tongue-in-cheek comment of Dhoni as he caught up with Bravo.
Dhoni is back as CSK skipper after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the rest of IPL 2025 with an elbow injury.
At 43 years and 278 days, Dhoni became the oldest IPL captain when he went out for the toss with Ajinkya Rahane.
