Berhampur: Three police personnel were critically injured after being attacked by an angry mob near Gobindpur Chhak in Berhampur of Ganjam district on Tuesday.
The victims were admitted to Mohana community health centre for treatment.
According to information, the driver of a cashew-laden truck was attacked and robbed of by a group of miscreants at Taptapani Ghati here on Monday night. After the news about the incident spread, the locals gathered near Gobindpur Chhack and block the road connecting Gobindpur and Jakarapali demanding action against the accused. When police rushed to the spot to control the situation, the agitators started attacking them with stones.
Following the incident, senior police officers reached the spot and brought the situation under control. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
