Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm coupled with gusty winds and lightning is likely to lash several parts of Odisha over the next two days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday.
The IMD has issued a yellow warning of thunderstorm activity for several districts of the state till the morning of October 10. At the same time, light to moderate rain is also likely to occur in many parts of the state over the next one week.
In a weather bulletin, the IMD has issued a yellow warning of thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph over the districts of Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Kandhamala, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri during the next 24 hours.
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind is also likely to occur in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Nayagada districts during the same period.
On October 9-10, a yellow warning was issued for the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Nayagada.
People in these districts have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions during thunderstorm activity.
