Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm coupled with lightning, gusty wind and rain is likely to hit at least ten districts of Odisha on Saturday night, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in nowcast warning.
In a message issued at 9.55 pm, the IMD sounded an orange warning for Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts.
Moderate thunderstorm with lightning, surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph and light to moderate rain may affect some parts of these seven districts within next three hours, it said.
Under its impact, minor damage to loose / unsecured structures, banana trees, and standing crops may occur.
People are advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places accordingly.
Similarly, a yellow warning of thunderstorm, lightning, gusty surface wind and rain was issued for Bhadrak, Jajpur and Dhenkanal districts over the next three hours.
