Bhubaneswar: With the low-pressure system moving away from Odisha, intensity of rain decreased in Odisha, while thunderstorm activity is likely to hit the state over the next five days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.
The well-marked low-pressure area now lay over northeast Madhya Pradesh & neighbourhood. It is likely to become low pressure area during next 12 hours.
While the intensity of rainfall gradually subsided, the weather agency has issued yellow warning of thunderstorm activity in several parts of the state till the morning of September 7.
In its midday weather bulletin, the IMD issued a yellow warning of thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph) over the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Kendujhar, and Mayurbhanj during the next 24 hours.
On Sept 3-4, a yellow warning of thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind was issued for the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Kendujhar, and Mayurbhanj.
On Sept 4-5, the weather agency issued a yellow warning for Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Kendujhar, and Mayurbhanj districts.
On Sept 5-6, a yellow warning was sounded for the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Kendujhar, and Mayurbhanj.
